Masala for fish rava fry


This masala is used for making fish rava fry and can also be used for making rava fry vegetables (kapa or fodi). Adding carom seeds is my touch to the recipe, you may also add them later when you are marinating the fish/ vegetables especially for red fish and vegetables which needs better digestion.

Ingredients:
Kashmiri chilies : 15 big ones
Spicy dry red chilies : 8 - 10 (more or less)
Tamarind : 1 lemon size ball
Vinegar :  5 tblsp
Garlic : 15 cloves (small variety)
Turmeric : 1 tsp
Pepper : 1 tsp
Carom seeds (ajwain) : 1 tsp (optional)
Water : as required

Procedure:

Clean the tamarind and soak it in vinegar while you prepare the other ingredients. 

Peel garlic and roughly chop it, wash the chillies, remove stem and make pieces. Put all the ingredients in a spice grinder and grind them using water to make a thick and fine paste.


Put the paste in a glass jar and store it in the refrigerator. 


Marinate the fish with the masala, coat with rava and shallow fry.
