Mungache Kann or godshe (mung payasam)
Mungache kann is also called godshe, it is a sweet preparation of mung beans with coconut milk and jaggery.
Ingredients:
Mung beans : 2 cups
Coconut : 2 cups
Water : 4 cups
Jaggery : 1 cup (adjust to taste)
Salt : to taste
Cardamom powder : 1 tsp
Procedure:
Wash, dry and roast the beans.
Crush the beans on a grinding stone or mixer.
Separate the husk using a winnowing fan. Add water and cook till it becomes soft.
Grind coconut and extract the milk thrice (use water as required to grind the coconut)
After the beans are cooked, add the jaggery and coconut milk.
Bring this to a boil, add salt and some cardamom powder for flavouring.
