Atoll or godshe
Atoll is sweet khichdi type preparation made of rice and mung beans or chana dal with palm or cane jaggery.
Ingredients:
Rice ( par boiled or raw) : 1/2 cup
Mung beans : 1 cups
Water : 3 cups
Grated coconut : 1 & 1/2 cup
Jaggery : 1 & 1/2 cup
Salt : to taste
Cardamom powder : 1 tsp
Turmeric leaves : 1 or 2 (if available)
Procedure :
Wash rice and mung beans (if you have time presoaking will make the cooking faster, soaking is not required for raw rice.); add water and allow it to come to a boil. While boiling remove the scum and throw it away otherwise it will spill out from the cooker and make a mess.
Then put on the lid and pressure cook them until 2 whistles. You could also cook it normally without a cooker but that would take more time.
Once they are cooked and the cooker is ready to open, add coconut, jaggery, turmeric leaves, cardamom powder; mix everything and cook for a while on a low flame.
Transfer it into plates and allow it to cool. Cut into pieces and serve.
