Ambade karam or sweet hog plum chutney

Ambade karam is similar to sasanv preparation, but this is a sweeter and dry version.

Ingredients:
Hog plums/ambade : 10
Coconut : 1 cup
Kashmiri chilies powder: 1 tblsp
Turmeric : 1/4 tsp
Pepper : 10
Jaggery : 1 cup
Mustard : 1/2 tsp
Asafetida (shankar brand hing) : 1/2 cm
Oil : 1 tblsp
Salt : to taste

Procedure:

Wash, peel (I don't peel, but just scrape off the dirt with a knife if any) and crush the plums. Apply salt, turmeric powder, chili powder and jaggery.

Coarsely grind the grated coconut and pepper.

Heat a saucepan, put oil, mustard and asafetida pieces.

Then add in the hog plums and cook them over a low flame until they become soft.

Once the plums are cooked add the ground coconut, bring it to a boil and switch off.
