Masaad or Eggnog


Masaad or eggnog is a drink made of egg yolks. It is consumed when having a cold as it helps loosen the mucus from the lungs and expells it through cough. 

Ingredients: 
Egg yolk : 1
Sugar : 2 tsp
Milk : 1 cup

Flavours:
1.
Coffee : 1 tsp 
Rum : 1 tsp (optional)
2.
Turmeric : A pinch
Pepper : a pinch 
Cardamom : a pinch
3.
Cinnamon powder : a pinch 
4.
Nutmeg powder : a pinch 

Procedure :

Separate the egg yolk from the white and put it in a mug. Add sugar and coffee (and rum optional)

Or if you are making it for children (above 1 year) or someone who can not have coffee for some reason, add sugar, cardamom powder, turmeric powder and pepper powder (pepper is added along with turmeric because piperine a compound in pepper helps in the absorption of curcumin a compound contained in turmeric). 
( Or use other single flavours like cinnamon or nutmeg or cumin along with sugar)

Whisk it with a spoon until the sugar is dissolved and it becomes frothy. 

Boil milk and pour it into the whisked yolk about quarter of the mug while it is boiling hot and whisk again to homogenize the mixture.


Then add the remaining milk, stir again and enjoy while it is hot.
