Doughnuts

Ingredients:
All purpose flour (maida) : 4 cups
Milk : 1 & 1/2 cup
Sugar : 1/3 cup
Yeast : 2 tsp
Egg : 1
Nutmeg powder : 1/4 tsp
Salt : 1 tsp
Butter : 6 tblsp (around 75 gm)
Oil : for Deep frying

Procedure:

Take 1 cup luke warm milk in a bowl add sugar and yeast; let it rest for a few minutes and allow it to froth. Then add an egg and nutmeg powder ; and whisk it.

 
Add flour and knead for 10 minutes to make a soft dough. Finally add salt and butter and knead for a few more minutes.

Dust some flour on a board or counter top and roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut the dough using a doughnut cutter or you may use a glass and bottle cap to do so. This will make around 22 doughnuts if you roll the scraps again.

Arrange the cutting on a flour dusted kitchen towel and keep them covered for 45 minutes to 1 hour for proofing. Keep enough space in between each so that they don't touch each other while proofing.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan and fry them on a low flame for 1 minute on each side.

Use the glaze of your choice.
