Filoz or banana fritters
Filoz are usually prepared with flour and egg, but this is an eggless recipe. I make the same recipe with grated cucumber, grated carrots, grated pumpkin or jackfruit puree instead of bananas. It makes a good tiffin option for children.
Ingredients :
Semolina : 1 cup
Banana : 1 big or 3 small
Coconut : 3 tblsp
Jaggery : 3 tblsp
Milk : 1/2 cup
Water : 1 cup
Cardamom powder/ vanilla essence : 1 tsp
Ghee/ butter : 1 tblsp + extra for frying
Salt : to taste
Procedure:
Take bananas, coconut, jaggery and salt in a bowl.
Mash the bananas using a fork and mix it with the other ingredients.
Add semolina and milk and mix well.
Add water to make a thick batter and add ghee or melted butter, cardamom powder and mix well.
Heat a pan, spread some ghee and put a tablespoon of the batter all over the pan.
Flip and cook on both sides they turn golden brown.
